He is a self-taught artist and exhibited his first solo show in December 2012 in ICCR Kolkata by one of youngest art curator of India, Jyotirmoy Bhttacharya. The composer was inspired to become a painter by the Indian painter Jogen Chowdhury. The show was very successful and his mastery of color contrast, ideas of composition and musical touch to the canvas was highly appreciated by master artists of India as well as art critics and media. Debojyoti Mishra's first solo violin album "Tagore on Strings" was launched in 2015.
