Ajay-Atul


Ajay-Atul is the music alias of Indian music director duo of brothers Ajay and Atul Gogavale..They are working on Ajay Devgn's Taanaji, Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera, Amitabh Bachchan's Jhund, Ashutosh Gowarikar's Panipat & Shoojit Sircar's Sardar Udham Singh. In 2008, Ajay-Atul won the Best Music Direction award at the 56th National Film Awards from the Government of India for contributing music to the Marathi film Jogwa. The pair made their debut on the 2015 Forbes India Celebrity 100 List securing a position of 82. They are first Indian music director to record their music at Sony scoring studios in Hollywood for Marathi movie Sairat. They have composed music for many Hindi movies such as PK, Agneepath, Singham, Brothers & Marathi movies like Sairat, Natrang, Lai Bhari, Fandry. Some of their most popular compositions are Zingaat, Chikni Chameli, Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin, Wajle Ki Bara, Apsara Aali, Kombdi Palali, Malhar Wari, Morya, Lallati Bhandar, Mauli, Bring It On, and Dolby Song.


Alphons Joseph


Alphons Joseph is a music director and playback singer in the Malayalam film industry who got a break as a film music composer after composing for the film Vellithira. Alphons is also noted for singing the famous song "Aaromale" from the film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, which was composed by A. R. Rahman.


Amaal Mallik


Amaal Mallik is an Indian music director, singer and lyricist in the Hindi film industry hailing from a musical family. He is the grandson of Sardar Malik; he is the son of Daboo Malik and Jyothi Malik; brother of singer Armaan Malik and nephew of music composer and singer Anu Malik. Mallik started learning music at the age of 8 and took a liking towards the piano. He debuted in 2014 by composing three songs for Salman Khan's Jai Ho, following it up with the song "Naina" from Khoobsurat.


Amit Trivedi


Amit Trivedi is an Indian music director, film score composer, singer and lyricist. As a contemporary music director, he is well known for his versatility, his work ranges from angry rock, authentic classical, honey-soaked melodies to novel fusion music. After working as a theatre and jingle composer and composing for non-film albums, he debuted as a film composer in the 2008 Hindi film Aamir, and was noticed for his critically acclaimed work in the Hindi film Dev.D , which earned him several Awards, including the 2010 National Film Awards for Best Music Direction.


Anil Biswas


Anil Krishna Biswas was an noted Indian film music director and playback singer from 1935 to 1965, who apart from being one of pioneers of playback singing, is also credited for the first Indian orchestra of twelve pieces and introducing orchestral music and full-blooded choral effects, into Indian cinema. A master in western symphonic music was known for the Indian classical or folk elements, especially Baul and Bhatiyali in his music. Out of his over 90 films, most memorable were, Roti , Kismet , Anokha Pyaar , Taraana , Waaris , Pardesi and Char Dil Char Rahen .


Anirudh Ravichander


Anirudh Ravichander is an Indian film composer and singer, who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He was born to veteran actor Ravi Raghavendra. He has also worked in Telugu and Hindi. At 21, he made his debut in the Tamil industry. His debut song, "Why This Kolaveri Di", composed for the 2012 film 3, went viral across the globe, etching more than 198,063,891 views on YouTube as of 17 october 2019. He then went on to compose numerous hits and became one of the popular composers in South India.


Ankit Tiwari


Ankit Tiwari is an Indian playback singer, music director, composer. His career began upon meeting Pradeep Sarkar where he got a chance to work on jingles and started composing background music for television programmes. Subsequently, he was offered to compose music for Do Dooni Chaar and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster , where he started his singing career with the song he composed for the later.


Ananda Shankar


Ananda Shankar was a Bengali musician, singer and composer best known for fusing Western and Eastern musical styles. He was married to dancer and choreographer Tanusree Shankar.


Anu Malik


Anwar Sardar Malik , best known as Anu Malik, is an Indian music director and singer. He is an Indian National Award and Filmfare Award winning music director, who primarily composes music for the Hindi film industry. Known as one of the mega music composers of 90s in India, he is the son of Sardar Malik who belongs to the Kapurthala Gharana from where the Malik family also originate. Anu Malik made his debut as a music composer in 1980 with the film Hunterwali 77. He is also the only Music Director in Bollywood to win Filmfare Special Award.


Anupam Roy


Anupam Roy; born 29 March 1982) is an Indian singer-songwriter from Kolkata, West Bengal. He is best known for his song Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao , which appeared on the soundtrack to the 2010 film Autograph. Since then, he has gone on to compose, write lyrics and sing for many Bengali films. In 2015, he made his Bollywood debut, composing the songs and score for Piku. He was nominated for the 61st Filmfare Award for Best Music Director, and won the 61st Filmfare Award for Best Background Score for Piku. He is a recipient of 64th National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the song Tumi Jaake Bhalobasho.


Arjun Janya


Arjun Janya is an Indian film score soundtrack composer and singer. Arjun made his film debut in the 2006 Kannada film Autograph Please. Since then he has composed and scored music for successful films such as Birugaali , Sanchari , Kempegowda , Varadanayaka , Victory , Vajrakaya and Mukunda Murari . His 100th film as music director is 99 .

Asif Panjwani is an Indian Composer, music director, singer and lyricist. Asif Panjwani has also composed music for many TV serials and music albums including Fear Files, Yaaron Ka Tashan, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, Savitri Devi College & Hospital and Dil Dhoondta Hai.

Pandit Bhajan Sopori


Bhajan Sopori is an Indian instrumentalist. He is a player of the santoor, an ancient stringed musical instrument. On the occasion of 67th Indian Republic Day 2016, Pandit Bhajan Sopori was accorded Jammu and Kashmir State lifetime achievement award.


Bhupen Hazarika


Bhupen Hazarika was an composer, playback singer, music director, lyricist, musician, folk artist, poet and filmmaker from Assam, widely known as Sudhakantha. His songs, written and sung mainly in the Assamese language by himself, are marked by humanity and universal brotherhood and have been translated and sung in many languages, most notably in Bengali and Hindi. His songs, based on the themes of communal amity, universal justice and empathy, have become popular among the people of Assam, besides West Bengal and Bangladesh. He is also acknowledged to have introduced the culture and folk music of Assam and Northeast India to Hindi cinema at the national level. He received the National Film Award for Best Music Direction in 1975. Recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award , Padmashri , and Padmabhushan , Hazarika was awarded with Dada Saheb Phalke Award , Highest award of India for cinema, by the Government of India, and Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship , the highest award of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's The National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama. He was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, in 2012. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, in 2019. Hazarika also held the position of the Chairman of the Sangeet Natak Akademi from December 1998 to December 2003. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, in 2019.


Bombay Ravi


Ravi Shankar Sharma , often referred to mononymously as Ravi, was an Indian music director, who had composed music for several Hindi and Malayalam films. After a successful career in Hindi cinema, he took a break from the 1970s to 1984, and made a successful comeback under the stage name Bombay Ravi. He died on 7 March 2012 in Mumbai at the age of 86.


C. Ramchandra


Ramchandra Narhar Chitalkar was a renowned music composer in the movie industry of India. In the composer's role, he mostly used the name C. Ramachandra, though he also used the names Annasaheb , Ram Chitalkar , and Shyamoo . Further, he often sang and acted in Marathi movies under the name R. N. Chitalkar. For his career as an occasional playback singer he used only his surname Chitalkar. Chitalkar sang some renowned and unforgettable duets with Lata such as Kitna haseen hai mausam in film Azad or Shola Jo bhadke in Albela.


D. Imman


Immanuel Vasanth Dinakaran , better known as D. Imman, is an Indian film composer and singer, predominantly working in the Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam film industry. His first film as music director was Thamizhan in 2002. Since then he has composed music for 100 films.


Daboo Malik


Daboo Malik, , is an Indian music director, composer, singer, actor and scriptwriter in the Hindi film industry.


Damodar Raao


Damodar Raao is an Indian composer, singer, record producer, and live performer. His music genre is about acoustic folk with some traces of Indian classical music.


Datta Naik


Datta Naik , also credited as N. Datta, is a Hindi film music director. Born in the then Portuguese colony of Goa, Naik, started his career as an assistant to the legendary music director Sachin Dev Burman in films like Bahar, Sazaa and Ek Nazar , Jaal , Jeevan Jyoti and Angarey . His partnership with songwriter Sahir Ludhianvi was popular and successful. He died on 30 December 1987.


Debojyoti Mishra


Mishra has expressed his talent through painting also. He is a self-taught artist and exhibited his first solo show in December 2012 in ICCR Kolkata by one of youngest art curator of India, Jyotirmoy Bhttacharya. The composer was inspired to become a painter by the Indian painter Jogen Chowdhury. The show was very successful and his mastery of color contrast, ideas of composition and musical touch to the canvas was highly appreciated by master artists of India as well as art critics and media. Debojyoti Mishra's first solo violin album "Tagore on Strings" was launched in 2015.


Deva


Devanesan Chokkalingam, popularly known as Deva, is an Indian film composer and singer. He has composed songs and provided background music for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films in a career spanning about 20 years. Many know his gaana songs, written mostly using Madras Tamil. He is known as the "Father of Gaana Genre" in the Tamil film industry.


Devi Sri Prasad


Devi Sri Prasad is an Indian music composer, lyricist, singer, and director. He is best known for his works in the cinema of South India, especially in Telugu and Tamil cinema. He has won eight Filmfare Awards, seven of which are Filmfare Best Music Director South Awards and one Special Jury Award, five CineMAA Awards - Best Music Director, & one Nandi Award for Best Music Director. Devi also choreographed a song in the Telugu film Kumari 21F. As of 2019, he has composed music for more than 100 films.

Freddie Mercury was a British singer, songwriter, record producer, and lead vocalist of the rock band Queen. Regarded as one of the greatest lead singers in the history of rock music, he was known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range.


G. Devarajan


Paravoor Govindan Devarajan, popularly known as G. Devarajan or Devarajan master, was an Indian music composer. He is considered one of the greatest music directors in Indian film music arena. He scored music for more than three hundred Malayalam films, many dramas, and twenty Tamil and four Kannada movies. Many of his compositions remain ever green classics in Malayalam. His music in the Tamil film Annai Velankanni has received many accolades. Devarajan received Kerala Government's Best Music Director award five times, among other honours. He is regarded as the greatest music composer ever in the history of Malayalam cinema.


G. V. Prakash Kumar


G. V. Prakash Kumar is an Indian composer, actor, producer and singer. He has predominantly scored music for Tamil films. His first film was S Pictures' Veyyil .


Gopi Sunder


Gopisundar C. S., known professionally as Gopi Sundar, is an Indian music director, programmer, singer, songwriter, actor and performer who is proficient in extracting music from already composed works. He started his career composing music for television commercials, as he has nearly 5,000 jingles to his credit. As a keyboard programmer, he has collaborated with several music directors including the composer duo Vishal–Shekhar, for whose music he also provided vocals. He made his debut as a film score composer in 2006 and went on to produce several commercially successful songs in Malayalam, Telugu,and Tamil language films.


Gurukiran


Gurukiran or Gurukiran Shetty is a music director of the Kannada film industry in India. He started his career as a music director of the Kannada movie A, directed and acted by Upendra. His music for his next movie Upendra further consolidated his position in Kannada movie industry. He is a native of Mangalore and his mother tongue is Tulu. He has also acted in several movies in side roles and also sung several songs. He is popular in Kannada cinema for his foot-tapping musical scores.

Hamsalekha is an Indian film composer and a songwriter who works in South Indian cinema, predominantly in the Kannada film industry since the late 1980s. He is also a screenplay writer, dialogue writer, instrumentalist and a conductor. Composed and written for over 500 feature films.


Harris Jayaraj


Harris Jayaraj is an Indian film composer from Chennai,Tamil Nadu. He composes soundtracks predominantly for Tamil films, while also having composed for a few films in Telugu and two films in Hindi. He has won 6 Filmfare Awards South and since 2001, has received 17 Filmfare Awards South nominations. He has also won 6 Mirchi Music Awards, 5 Vijay Awards, 3 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, 3 International Tamil Film Awards and Big FM Awards. Hridaynath Mangeshkar


Hridaynath Mangeshkar is an Indian music director . He is the only son of noted musician Deenanath Mangeshkar and younger brother of Indian music legends Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. He is popularly known as Balasaheb in the music and film industry.


Ilaiyaraaja


Ilaiyaraaja is an Indian film composer, singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, orchestrator, conductor-arranger and lyricist who works in the Indian Film Industry, predominantly in Tamil. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Indian music composers, he is credited for introducing western musical sensibilities in the Indian musical mainstream. Reputed to be the world's most prolific composer, he has composed over 7000 songs, provided film scores for more than 1000 movies and performed in more than 20,000 concerts. Being the first Asian to compose a full symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, Ilaiyaraaja is known to have written the entire symphony in less than a month. He is also a gold medalist in classical guitar from Trinity College of Music, London, Distance Learning Channel. In a poll conducted by CNN-IBN celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema in 2013, Ilaiyaraaja was voted as the all-time greatest film-music director of India. US-based world cinema portal "Taste of Cinema" placed Ilaiyaraaja at the 9th position in its list of 25 greatest film composers in the history of cinema and he is the only Indian composer in that list.

Jim Ankan Deka


Jim Ankan Deka is an Assamese musician, documentary film maker, photographer and director of Bangalore based organisation and music school Eastern Fare Music Foundation. He is the first Assamese to open a music institute and a production house in Bangalore, India. He won multiple awards for his song Aawaz - speak up against sexual violence based on the 2012 Delhi gang rape incident.

Johnson


Johnson was an Indian film score composer and music director who has given music to some of the most important motion pictures of Malayalam cinema, including those for Koodevide, Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal, Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam, Vadakkunokkiyantram, Perumthachan, Njan Gandharvan, Ponthan Mada, and Bhoothakkannadi. Regarded as one of the finest composers in the industry, he was noted for his lyrical and expressive melodies together with simple but rich tonal compositions of thematic music. Madan Mohan


Madan Mohan Kohli , better known as Madan Mohan, was a popular and unparalleled Indian music director of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He is considered one of the most melodious and skilled music directors of the Hindi film industry. He is particularly remembered for the immortal ghazals he composed for Hindi films. Some of his best works are with singers Mohammed Rafi, Talat Mahmood, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.


Manoj George


Manoj George is an Indian violinist and a music composer. He performed as the conductor, string arranger, violinist and choral arranger for the album Winds of Samsara, which won the Grammy Award for the Best New Age Album in 2015, making him the first Malayali musician to receive the honour. He is reported to be the first Indian violinist recognized by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, The Grammys, United States.


Mani Sharma


Mani Sharma is an Indian composer and music director who works in Telugu and Tamil films. He has scored music for almost 200 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi languages. He is known as the Melody Bramha in Telugu Film Industry and is known for background music and re-recordings. His most successful compositions are Chiru Navvuto, Preminchukundam Raa, Samarasimha Reddy, Rajakumarudu, Annayya, Kushi, Narasimha Naidu, Murari, Indra, Okkadu, Gudumba Shankar, Balu, Stalin, Choodalani Vundi, Kushi, Indra, Raagam, Athadu, Pokiri, Chiruta, Kantri, Ek Niranjan, Bujjigadu, Parugu, Khaleja, Gentleman, LIE and iSmart Shankar. Meet Bros is a music director duo from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. The duo consists of Manmeet Singh and Harmeet Singh. They were formerly known as Meet Bros Anjjan with longtime collaborator Anjjan Bhattacharya.

Mickey J Meyer is an Indian music composer and singer known for his works predominantly in Telugu Cinema, and a few Kannada films which are mostly remakes of his Telugu ventures. His legal name is Lalith Kumar Jain and his nick name is Mickey. He introduced himself as Mickey J Meyer when he entered the music world. M. Jayachandran


Madhusoodanan Nair Jayachandran, often credited as M. Jayachandran, is a film score composer, singer, and musician in Indian films. He has won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director for a record number of seven times. In 2005, he also won the state award for best male singer. In 2015, he won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the film Ennu Ninte Moideen. He has composed music for more than one hundred films.


M.S Baburaj


Mohammad Sabir Baburaj , also known as M. S. Baburaj, was a Malayalam music composer. He is often credited for the renaissance of Malayalam film music. Baburaj has rendered music to many evergreen Malayalam film songs.

Laxmikant–Pyarelal are a popular and successful Indian composer duo, consisting of Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma . They are considered among the most successful composers in Hindi film history and composed music for about 750 Hindi movies from 1963 to 1998, working for almost all notable filmmakers, including Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, B.R. Chopra, Shakti Samanta, Manmohan Desai, Yash Chopra, Boney Kapoor, J. Om Prakash, Raj Khosla, L V Prasad, Subhash Ghai, K Viswanath and Manoj Kumar.

Lakshminarayana Subramaniam is an Indian violinist, composer and conductor, trained in the classical Carnatic music tradition and Western classical music, and renowned for his virtuoso playing techniques and compositions in orchestral fusion.


Kalyanji-Anandji


Kalyanji–Anandji are an Indian composer duo from Gujarat: Kalyanji Virji Shah and his brother Anandji Virji Shah . The duo are known for their work on Hindi film soundtracks, with many evergreen songs being composed by them.


Naushad Ali


Naushad Ali was an Indian music director for Hindi films. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest and foremost music directors of the Hindi film industry. He is particularly known for popularising the use of classical music in films.


Nadeem-Shravan


Nadeem–Shravan are an Indian legendary music director duo in the Bollywood film industry of India. The duo derives its name from the first names of the two principal composers, Nadeem Akhtar Saifi and Shravan Kumar Rathod .


Nityanand Haldipur


Nityanand Haldipur is a performer and teacher of the Indian bamboo flute, known in India as the bansuri. He is a purist in the true Maihar Gharana tradition, at present learning from Ma Annapurna Devi, in Mumbai, India. He has been rated as a "Top Grade" artist by the All India Radio and was awarded the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academi award in 2010.

Oni–Adil are an Indian film music composer duo consisting of Aniket Kar and Adil Rasheed. The duo compose music predominantly for Hindi films.


O. P. Nayyar


Omkar Prasad Nayyar was an Indian film music composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, and musician. He is considered to be one of the most rhythmic and melodious music directors of the Hindi film industry. He won the 1958 Filmfare Award for Best Music Director . Nayyar worked extensively with singers Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi but not with leading Bollywood female singer Lata Mangeshkar. However, Mangeshkar's song Saari Saari Raat Teri Yaad Satayein was used in the 1973 Hindi film Taxi Driver, for which Nayyar was music director. According to music and film expert Rajesh Subramanian, "Aap Ke Haseen Rukh" was planned with full orchestration but many of the musicians were late for the recording. After a disagreement with Mohammed Rafi, Nayyar began working with singer Mahendra Kapoor. Kapoor performed Nayyar's song "Badal Jaaye Agar Maali, Chaman Hotaa Nahi Khaali" in Bahaaren Phir Bhi Aayengi. Based on a Bengali language work by Rabindranath Tagore, Nayyar composed "Chal Akelaa, Chal Akelaa" .

Pankaj Mullick, also known as Pankaj Kumar Mullick , was a popular Bengali Indian music composer and playback singer, who was a pioneer of film music in Bengali cinema and Hindi cinema at the advent of playback singing, as well as an early exponent of Rabindra Sangeet.

Madhavan Raveendran , , fondly known as "Raveendran Master", was a popular South Indian music composer and playback singer from Kerala. He was referred to as the aristocratic music director of Malayalam who had a distinctive style of his own. He composed more than 150 films primarily for the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. He also composed a few albums, including Vasantha Geethangal, Ponnonatharangini and Rithugeethangal. Raveendran successfully composed melodies based on Hindustani Ragas also. He is also noted for his beautiful orchestration.

Raju Singh


Raju Singh is an Indian Film and TV background score composer, music director, session musician, singer and a guitarist. His first collaboration was with Malkit Singh of Hai Jamalo fame. Some of his early compositions include of serials like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Filmi Chakkar, Aahat, Boogie Woogie and C.I.D.

His son Rahul Dev Burman was also a celebrated music composer for Bollywood films.

Salil Chowdhury; 19 November 1925 - 5 September 1995) was an Indian songwriter, music director, lyricist , writer and poet, who predominantly composed for Bengali, Hindi, Malayalam films. He went on to compose music for films in 13 languages. This includes over 75 Hindi films, 41 Bengali films, around 27 Malayalam films, and a few Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Oriya and Assamese films. His musical ability was widely recognised and acknowledged in the Indian film industry. He was an accomplished composer and arranger who was proficient in several musical instruments, including flute, the piano, and the esraj. He was also widely acclaimed and admired for his inspirational and original poetry in Bengali.
